CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT FIRM

Undergoing a buyout of its founder, one of the largest minority construction management firms in the country was in need of developing new business. Established in 1977, the firm had a small backlog of business in parts of the country, except in the North East and Mid-Atlantic Regions.

J.S Barclay was retained to perform business development services working side-by-side with the principals and administrative staff of the firm. Services performed included lead generation, sales calls, prospect development and follow-up, proposal writing, coordination and submission, presentations, recruiting, client liaison, promotion and public relations. The following was accomplished:
  • Closed a Construction Management/Build Contract with the City of New York in the amount of $25 million in fees. This was the first time that the firm performed CM/Build services which is serving as a stepping stone to new business.

  • Won an On-Call $5 million multi-year competitive contract with the U.S. General Services
    Administration to provide construction management services covering an eight state area.

  • Won a National Verizon contract to provide Owners Representative Services.

  • Wrote the proposal and helped negotiate a GSA Federal Supply Schedule MOBIS contract.
    Developed a brochure and promoted the service. Working on a P.E.S.

  • Won a NYC School Construction Authority Staff five year Staff Augmentation contract.

  • Won a three year On-Call Project Management Contract with the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey.

  • Won a five year On Call Construction Management Contract with the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York.

  • Developed numerous teaming arrangements as a prime and sub. Won projects.

  • Won an estimating contract to provide cost studies on the new Washington Nationals Baseball Team Stadium site in the District of Columbia.

  • Established relationships with clients, prospects, teaming partners, consultants and publications. Maximized bidder list opportunities.

  • Improved the marketing and proposal development process, and positioned the firm to win more business.
